California Lawmaker Proving to be E-Cigarette Champion
A California lawmaker has positioned himself as an ardent supporter of e-cigarettes.
U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter, a Republican from California, says e-cigarettes and vaporizers have helped him quit using tobacco and should be spared from prohibitive legislation. During a Congressional hearing earlier this month regarding a proposal to ban e-cigarette use on airplanes, Hunter pulled out a vaporizer and puffed away to make his point.

Banning the Sale of E-Cigarettes Might Be Driving More Minors to Smoking
A new Yale University study has found that in states where minors can’t buy e-cigarettes they are – as a whole – smoking more traditional cigarettes.
Abigail Freidman, assistant professor of public health at Yale, looked at teen smoking data in states that prohibit the sale of e-cigs to minors versus ones that do not. She found that in the states that prohibit sales, more young people ages 12 to 17 take up smoking tobacco cigarettes... more >
E-Cigs Banned from Checked Bags on Flights
Tossing an e-cigarette into your checked bag at the airport before you take flight is no longer legal.
A new federal rule, which is set to go into effect this November, does the following:
1. Prohibits passengers and crew members from carrying battery-powered portable electronic smoking devices (e.g. e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e-pipes, personal vaporizers, electronic nicotine delivery systems) in checked baggage.
2. Prohibits passengers and crew members from charging the devices and/or batteries on board the aircraft.
Federal Trade Commission Hoping to Put E-Cig Makers Under Microscope
The U. S. Federal Trade Commission is seeking public comment regarding its proposed review of how e-cigarettes are sold and advertised in the U.S.
The commission this week said it is seeking government permission to reach out to e-cigarettes makers and collect information about their sales, marketing activities and expenditures. FDA Poised To Regulate E-Liquids for E-Cigs
Within the next few months, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to decide whether it will regulate liquid nicotine as a tobacco product.
As of August 2015, the FDA regulates traditional cigarettes, loose tobacco and smokeless tobacco, such as snuff.
