U.S. Smoking Rate Continues to Fall

As e-cigarettes continue to grow in popularity, new data shows that the overall number of people smoking tobacco cigarettes continues to drop.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that in 2013, 17.8 percent of U.S. adults smoked traditional tobacco cigarettes. In 2014, that number fell by a full percentage point to 16.8, which the CDC notes is “significantly lower.” The latest data was released this month as part of the Nov. 13 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report by the CDC.
